The 33 MW Siemens SGT-700 gas turbine is a further development of the proven Siemens SGT-600 and is specifically designed for higher power output. In simple cycle gas turbine power plants, the twin-shaft turbine delivers 32.8 MW(e), while as a mechanical drive it produces 33.7 MW. It achieves a high electrical efficiency of 37.2 percent in base load range when using gaseous fuel. The Siemens SGT-700 gas turbine offers easy on-site maintenance and is designed to operate with a wide range of gaseous and liquid fuels. Thanks to its wide fuel range capability, the turbine is particularly well suited for upstream, LNG, and Floating LNG applications (FLNG) as well as for use in refineries. The Siemens SGT-700 is particularly resistant to gases containing hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and it burns gases with up to 50 percent vol. N2 or 40 percent vol. CO2. Due to its compact dimensions, the Siemens SGT-700 is suitable for offshore applications and retrofits in existing plants.

Benefits
Robust industrial design

  • Low noise and low vibration level
  • Electron-beam-welded compressor rotor for smooth running and trouble-free operation
  • Heavy duty tilting pad bearings with mineral oil lubrication
  • Casings with blade containment capability, thermal insulation, and no requirement for forced ventilation

Environmentally friendly

  • Simple DLE system for stable operation
  • Only engine in its class for DLE operation with liquid fuel
  • Low nitrogen oxide emissions
  • Wide fuel range capability: burns gases with up to 50 percent vol. N2 or 40 percent vol. CO2, or up to 100 percent vol. ethane (C2H6), resistant to high amounts of hydrogen sulfide (H2S)

High performance

  • 33 MW gas turbine with high efficiency and cost-effective fuels
  • Rapid load changes (light industrial machine)
  • Dual fuel DLE capability with fuel changeover capability (gas to liquid fuel and liquid fuel to gas) on load

Robust Design

The Siemens SGT-700 is a twin-shaft gas turbine with an eleven-stage compressor; the first two stages have variable guide vanes. To optimize power output, the power turbine is equipped with special profile blades that improve gas flow. As a drive for pipeline or process compressor applications, the free end of the Siemens SGT-700’s high-speed turbine shaft can be coupled directly, eliminating the need for a gearbox. Its overall design provides easy service access to the combustor and burners. The annular combustion chamber contains 18 burners; these are accessible from the outside for easy replacement. The inner surface of the combustor has a thermal barrier coating that reduces the level of heat transfer and extends the lifetime. The Siemens SGT-700 can be fully equipped with Dry Low Emissions (DLE) burners, which result in low nitrogen oxide emissions. The Siemens SGT-700 is designed to operate on different gaseous and liquid fuels with on-line switchover between fuels.

Applications

The Siemens SGT-700 is proven machine for industrial power generation and mechanical drive applications. Application areas include:

  • Drive for compressors, e.g. in compressor stations
  • Gas turbine power plants (simple cycle applications)
  • Combined cycle power plants (combined cycle applications)
  • Ideal for combined heat and power (CHP) due to excellent exhaust heat conditions
  • Power generation for the oil and gas industry, upstream, midstream, downstream
  • LNG and floating LNG applications (FLNG)
  • Onshore in oil production facilities, for refinery applications, etc.
  • On offshore platforms and FPSO vessels
